The Insurance Fraud Bureau has exposed a group of people that has knowingly committed the road accidents and claimed for the insurance policy “cash for crash”. The offenders were identified as Kamsan Mahmood and Peter Charlery from Long Meadow Farm, Chalton and Istafa Fazal of Lincoln Road with 42, 45, 40 years of age respectively.
The culprits were charged for imparting false and inflated personal injury claims in addition to the storage of crushed and damaged vehicles at a farm. The police have acknowledged the insurance fraud during the investigation of the organized criminal activity in the town. All the three will be sentence on April 27.
Further, in collaboration with Insurance Fraud Bureau, the police have successfully exposed the network of involving people.
The Senior Investigating Officer, Andrew Richer, said that this is a serious case with a good number of complexities and labeled the scam as planned and systematic fraud based on huge claims made by the victims based upon totally fictitious accidents.
“This kind of fraud substantially inflates insurance premiums for every honest driver in the country. I am pleased that working with our industry partner, the Insurance Fraud Bureau, we have been able to bring offenders to justice and confiscate substantial assets and money which were the proceeds of crime”, he added.
